MACHINE HEAD To Resume U.S. Tour Tomorrow
February 19, 2018Following a severe lung infection that shut frontman Robb Flynn's throat down mid-show in Pittsburgh and resulted in the next two sold-out concerts in Cleveland and Detroit being canceled, MACHINE HEAD will resume its U.S. tour tomorrow night (Tuesday, February 20) in Des Moines, Iowa.
The day after Pittsburgh, Robb visited a clinic in Cleveland and the doctor put him on pharmaceutical cough medicine, gave strict orders not to sing or talk and get "vocal rest." A particularly strong chest infection has savaged the U.S. this winter, and, unfortunately, the doctor said what Robb has will not be knocked out by antibiotics; he will just have to "ride it out." Based on the numerous patients coming into the doctor's clinic, he estimated that the infection could last up to three weeks.
With the tour resuming tomorrow night in Des Moines, and an already-rigorous tour schedule in place, the band was heading into the roughest stretch of the U.S. tour, a five-in-a-row block of dates that even under the healthiest conditions would have been ambitious to sing and perform five two-and-half-to-three-hour sets in a row.
MACHINE HEAD has opted to postpone the Madison, Wisconsin show on February 21 at the Majestic Theater (to break up the five-in-a-row block),and will add it to the second leg of its "Catharsis" U.S. tour happening in the fall of 2018, along with the Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Detroit make-up shows.
Refunds will be available at point of purchase.
When the new dates are announced, all ticket purchasers for the canceled shows will receive an e-mail and access code to purchase tickets before the general on-sale, guaranteeing you a ticket to the show.
MACHINE HEAD's latest album, "Catharsis", was released on January 26 via Nuclear Blast. The effort was made available in several formats, including a CD/DVD digipak edition which contains footage of MACHINE HEAD's 2015 concert at San Francisco's Regency Ballroom.
The follow-up to 2014's "Bloodstone & Diamonds", "Catharsis" was produced by Flynn and was recorded, mixed, and co-produced by Zack Ohren (FALLUJAH, ALL SHALL PERISH) at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California. Mastering was handled by Ted Jensen (HATEBREED, ALICE IN CHAINS, DEFTONES) at Sterling Sound in New York. Cover photography was created by Seanen Middleton.
The North American tour in support of "Catharsis" kicked off on January 25 in Mesa, Arizona.
